It has been difficult to find words over these past two months, aside from stating the obvious: a genocide is taking place, perpetrated by Israel, with the support of Western states like the UK, the US, Germany, and many more.
The demands are simple: an end to the genocide, an end to the occupation, and a pure, simple demand – a free Palestine, from the river, to the sea. We join the millions around the world fighting to make this happen. And we believe that we will win.
There is no going back to the way things were. The resistance to Israeli genocide, Israeli apartheid, Israeli occupation, and the realities of settler-colonialism has transformed the world. How we act in this moment, the actions we take, how we use our voice, our positions, our power; how we organise, answering and amplifying the calls from Palestinians in this monumental shift is definitive of who we are.
We have not been running reading groups or other projects – largely as all of our members have been busy doing other organising work, recognising our priorities in this moment.
We are going to compile some of the resources, articles, and conversations on the genocide being carried out by Israel against Palestinians that we have found helpful. Much of the work of resource-gathering has been done by excellent organisations, some collections we will include here.
The objectives of political education have never been clearer: to inform the actions we take. It is not enough to be informed, now is the time to act. To quote Refaat Alareer, the much-loved poet, academic, and activist martyred last week:
“Reader, as you peruse these chapters, what can or will you do, knowing that what you do can save lives and can change the course of history? Reader, will you make this matter?”
Please feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments, and we will continue adding to this list.
